Next webinar September 17, 2020 at Noon

I apologize that our June webinar did not occur. I think I will take the 2020 excuse and blame COVID. Speaking of how strange our current environment is right now I feel that instead of planning a topic for the September webinar I would like to ask you what is your program’s issues that you would like to discuss. I was originally wanting to discuss the new ACCME standards for commercial support however with the launch of the new guidelines postponed instead I have been looking at innovative ways to provide credits to my caregivers. Typical medical education revolves around conferences, RSS, and enduring materials. Now I find many of my activities being committee learning and internet live course. Have you seen a similar change in your program? What challenges are your programs facing? Email your ideas and lets talk about it on September 17th.

2019 Utah Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (UACEHP) Workshop

Save the date for the 2019 Utah Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (UACEHP) Workshop on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Primary Children’s Hospital Eccles Outpatient Building, Kings Peak Room in the Conference Center located at 81 North Mario Capecchi Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. We are planning on starting around 1:00pm.

What is Interprofessional Education?

Interprofessional Education seems to be the new buzz term in medical education but what is it really? Join us February 6, 2019 at noon for an informative webinar about what is interprofessional education and what is not. At the end of the webinar the participant will be able to
* identify educational activities that are truly built for interprofessional audiences.
* describe how interprofessional planning committees create an agenda that interests multiple disciplines.
* change how course directors think that interprofessional education means “inviting the nurses”.

Hope to “see” you at this informative discussion. Please bring your questions!

Summit Postponed – Join us for networking Sept. 7th

For several reasons, we are postponing the Utah Alliance for CEHP (Continuing Education in the Health Professions) Annual Meeting until the Spring.  Speaker availability, complicated schedules, and low registration are telling us that the previously planned all-day August 16th meeting isn’t going to work this year.

Instead, we invite you to a shorter, in-person, open-forum discussion event!  Come and network with your continuing education colleagues for free!   On September 7th from 2:00-5:00, we’ll meet at the Utah Medical Association offices (310 East 4500 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, Utah 84107-4250; a 6-story brown brick building on the south side of 4500 South; parking in the back).

This event will be an open house format; come and go as you are able and can during the 2:00-5:00 time frame.  Bring your cases to discuss and brainstorm with your colleagues.  Discuss hot topics, share ideas, tips, and lessons learned.   We’ll also conduct our annual Utah Alliance business during this session (a short 15-minutes max).  Come mingle, ask your hot topic, share your insights!  It promises to be a fun, casual get together where we can meet and share the wisdom of the crowd!

Send us any questions you’d like to discuss so we can prepare, as needed.  A call-in feature will be available for those who cannot attend in person, though we’d really love to see your smiling faces, if at all possible.

February Webinar – Interprofessional Education and Accreditation

With the new commendation criteria C23 how do you create interprofessional education? How do you plan an event with an interprofessional planning committee and make sure that everyone’s educational needs and voice is heard? Then once you get this planning committee together how do you plan an event that is accredited through multiple professional accrediting bodies?

This issue affect all accredited educational programs/departments working appease not only the ACCME C23 requirement but the needs of their attendees. Health care teams are shifting towards a interdisciplinary model where doctors, nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists work together to complement the needs of the patient for improved outcomes. This means that the educational model is shifting too. Conferences, RSS, and other activities are being geared towards multiple target audiences but also includes multiple accreditation.

Come join our webinar on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from noon to 1:00pm to share in the discussion. By the end of the webinar our attendees will be able to define true interprofessional education versus interdisciplinary accredited education; learn what accrediting bodies complement CME and which do not; and network with contacts to help you when you have that first or difficult interdisciplinary event.
